A week and my sound board still doesn't work.
Mine mustn't work since I had to download new drivers from the net. :) It is very nice of Windows to be able to do this, but the poster also pointed out that when time has passed, those pre installed drivers no longer works with the new hardware released that the user might buy. I have tried runnning (instead of oss) soound.ko and snd_hda.ko, but no sound files get created in dev still, except, catting /dev/sndstat tells me that pcm sound is working fine. Any idea what I'm going wrong? Maybe I should drop this at this point, but my nvidia.ko file, which is the driver for my 8600 GTS card,

I've looked high and low for sound card drivers that would let me use my sound card for DOS games, but I've had no success. Can anyone help me? There are DOS drivers needed and they come with the card but the part of the card needed for music doesn't work properly so U6 will sound like shit.

Screw ATI and their no drivers policy.
I've tried all the pci slots with no luck. On some of the slots whenever i reboot, my sound card isn't recognized. On others, everything appears fine at first and i get to install all of the drivers. All then seems fine after i install MMC 7.5 except that i get no tv option on MMC. I reconnect cable with no luck.

No. XP had drivers. The 3rd party vendors have released updates on the web and/or included them with the product. It's not the end users fault that the vendors don't supply Linux drivers but that doesn't really help them alot when they can't get their hardware to work. This also does not sound like Linux advocacy.
